Memories

Sunday Snippet: A Perfectly Ordinary Day at WeHaKee!

Sunday already? It is easy to lose track here at WeHaKee, as each day is plump full of activity and exciting events. Below, the Directors describe the beauty of busy camp days and the memories from these days that last a lifetime!

It’s hard to deny that every day at Camp WeHaKee is perfect, but today seemed to be especially spectacular beginning with a group heading out for a morning trip down the pristine Namekagon River. Before they even arrived, three bears (a mama and her two cubs) greeted the canoeists as they travelled to their departure landing in Earl. The rest of the trip was fun-filled with warm, sunny skies, a cooling breeze and gentle flowing river guiding us to Trego, where we pulled out and travelled back to camp.

A Time to Relax and to Move On

With the departure of our Auntie/Mother/Daughter Camp groups yesterday along with our last group of WeHaKee staff heading out the gate, the camp season at WeHaKee has come to an end for this summer. As with most transitions, it is a bittersweet time. Our hearts ache for the fun and enthusiasm of a camp full of girls and staff, yet the memories of the summer, still fresh and vibrant, bring smiles to our faces.

A Big Thank You – We Miss You Already!

Our second session came to a close today and sadly, we had to say good-bye to a large group of amazing girls and young women. Thank you to each and everyone one of you! We watched each of you welcome new people you never knew before into your lives, try things you've never done before, and embrace the WeHaKee Camp life with joy and great fun! Each of you have impacted our lives and touched our hearts in so many ways! And your energy and wild & crazy enthusiasm was endless – how many meals did we enjoy when spontaneous songs simply took over the dining hall!

We hope you all had a fantastic time at WeHaKee and that we have helped you grow in ways you may never have expected. And we hope you had the time of your life – sure seemed like y'all did!

A Camper’s Words – Session 2, Part 4

Camp WeHaKee is the place where I know I belong. It has taught me so many things over the years. WeHaKee has taught me to be the person I am and that that person should be good enough for everyone else.

For six years, Camp WeHaKee has been my home away from home. It is the place where I have created lifelong friendships with people from all over the world. And these people are some of my best and truest friends.

So Thank You Camp WeHaKee… for all the memories you've given me. They will be ones I will cherish in my heart forever!
