WeHaKee Leadership Academy

We are extremely excited to continue the all new WeHaKee Leadership Academy in Summer, 2013! This program offers three levels exclusively for teen girls who have completed the 9th, 10th or 11th grades by this coming summer and are looking to take the next step from Camper to Leader. Here is what we have put together for older teens at WeHaKee Camp for Girls.

CIT1 Program

If you didn't already know, CIT stands for Counselor-In-Training!
The CIT1 Program is the first step on the bridge from camper to counselor. In addition to being able to participate in at least five activities during their session at WeHaKee, girls will receive training to build their leadership knowledge and skill base.

Enjoy Your WeHaKee Activities While Becoming A Leader

  • Guide others to build strong, positive relationships through team building and group dynamic techniques
  • Use skill-building to help campers enjoy their activities by experiencing challenges and successes
  • Lead, motivate, effectively communicate with and understand the needs of different age groups
  • Create a Leadership Portfolio of experiences that can be used beyond camp at school and in the community

Girls who have completed 9th grade by this summer are eligible to submit a CIT1 application to be considered for the WeHaKee CIT1 Program.

The CIT1 Program will be offered for three separate sessions:

  • June 17 through July 1, 2013
  • July 3 through July 17, 2013
  • July 19 through August 2, 2013

The program fee for each two-week CIT1 session is $1,550.

CIT2/PA Program

The PA stands for Program Assistant!
The CIT2/PA Program is the next step to becoming a strong, positive leader! Girls will be able to participate in at least four activities during thier session as well as receive advanced leadership training. They will also have several opportunities to shadow and assist with activities and events throughout camp. Girls who have successfully completed the CIT1 Program or have participated in other leadership development programs/experiences will be eligible to apply for the CIT2/PA Program at WeHaKee.  

Have Fun in Your Activities and Continue Your Leadership Growth

  • Enhancing your knowledge and skills in the areas of relationship building, skill development, activity leading, effective communication, youth development levels, servant leadership and ethics principles
  • Applying and advancing your skills as a Program Assistant, working with our staff to become more effective and successful in leading activities, energizing campers and helping create a fun and safe camp community
  • Discovering the importance of planning, pacing, boundaries and self-care to enhance your leadership effectiveness
  • Helping lead camp activities with staff mentoring and support

CIT2/PA's will assist with activities they are interested and skilled in as well as learn to assist in areas they wish to learn more in. There will be ample time to reflect on their efforts to recognize their accomplishments and strategize to improve.  

Girls who have completed 10th grade by this summer and have successfully completed the WeHaKee CIT1 Program are eligible to apply for the CIT2/PA Program. Girls who have completed 10th grade but who have NOT successfully completed the WeHaKee CIT1 Program may still be eligible to apply if they have other leadership development training or experiences. Please contact the WeHaKee directors to discuss what you bring to the CIT2/PA Program.

The CIT2/PA Program will be offered for three separate sessions:

  • June 17 through July 1, 2013
  • July 3 through July 17, 2013
  • July 19 through August 2, 2013

The program fee for each 2-week CIT2/PA session is $1,245.

Junior Counselor Program

A mentored camp counseling experience at WeHaKee!
The Junior Counselor Program will help girls complete the transition from camper to leader! A very select group of Junior Counselors will have the opportunity to spend four or more weeks of their summer at WeHaKee practicing their leadership skills through a mentored camp counselor experience. 

Put Your Leadership Skills Into Action

  • Receive staff-oriented training with our counselors while spending 4 or more weeks at WeHaKee
  • Work along side WeHaKee staff helping lead activities, create community in the cabin, ensure campers' safety and creating a positive and exciting camper experience
  • Work with a mentor throughout the Junior Counselor experience and have opportunities to discuss and process counseling experiences and receive valuable feedback from staff
  • Acquire valuable job experience that will benefit future employment

Although girls who have completed 11th grade by this summer and have successfully completed the WeHaKee CIT2/PA Program (or who have completed other relevant leadership development training or experiences) are eligible to apply for the Junior Counselor Program. Only a select few top candidates will be chosen to participate in this prestigious program.  

The Junior Counselor Program will be offered for the following session:

  • June 17 through July 17, 2013 (4 weeks)

The program fee the Junior Counselor session is $625. Junior Counselors will be provided housing, supervision, and all meals during their stay at WeHaKee Camp for Girls.
