Health and Safety at Summer Camp

A nurse is in residence throughout the summer. They manage and dispense medications, provide care of campers and staff who may be experiencing minor illness or injury, determine appropriate care for more serious medical situations, and provide consultation for the overall health and safety of the camp program and property.

WeHaKee Camp for Girls has a fully equipped Health Center (the BandAid!) including the availability of an external electronic defibrillator (AED). We are within 30 minutes from clinic and emergency room care in both Hayward and Ladysmith, Wisconsin. And we are served by First Responders and ambulance units from nearby Winter, Wisconsin.

Nearly all of our staff have certification in First Aid and CPR.

WeHaKee Camp for Girls is fully accredited by the American Camp Association, and annually meets or exceeds nearly 300 standards in the following areas:

  • Health & Wellness
  • Program Design & Activities
  • Aquatics
  • Human Resources
  • Transportation
  • Site & Food Service
  • Operational Management

Our carefully screened and extensively trained counselors and staff (college age and older) ensure that a safe and high-quality program is provided to each girl attending WeHaKee Camp for Girls. The overall camper/staff ratio is 4:1.
