Attending the Mid States Camping Conference!
Believe it or not, when not at camp with great campers and staff, camp directing can be a bit lonely at times. Our office is small and there’s no water cooler to congregate around to learn the latest news. When an opportunity comes along where we can see colleagues and friends, discuss new things we’ve learned about youth development, staff training, pool maintenance or jewelry making we lunge for it! So when the annual Mid States Camping Conference rolls around each spring, we’re there!
As part of the American Camp Association, the Mid States Conference brings together hundreds of summer camp directors and many of their staff to Pheasant Run Conference Center outside of Chicago for 4 days of sharing and camaraderie! In addition to us and our girls, Kathy, Julia, Lauren, Allison and Rachel will be joining us. It’s a great springboard to the stretch run preparing for the summer. There are general sessions with motivating speakers, lots of break-out session to learn more about the details of camp and exhibits of new items for camp including waterfront toys, camp clothing, food items and so on. But the best part is the ride home and all the energy and enthusiasm that erupts from 4 days of camp, camp, camp! Its a heckuva lotta fun!
If you’re a bit curious about what’s all the excitement, you can check it out here. It’s a great way to cure cabin fever and getting even more pumped up for summer!!!
