A Camper’s Words at the End of Camp
What camp is to me is made up of all the things I learned at WeHaKee Camp for Girls. The skills like sailing and learning how to make a pot on the wheel are fun, but while learning those, I learned things I will never forget and will use for the rest of my life.
I learned perseverance in horseback riding. I learned courage from Julia on the waterfront. I learned creativity from everyone who taught me to use my hands. I learned to be ME in the Valley. I learned self-sacrifice from Maggie & Bob who give their entire year to WeHaKee. I learned energy from Alison who always smiles even when she’s tired. I learned peace from the water of Hunter Lake in the morning. I learned to marvel at the ancient pine trees. I learned to appreciate a cool breeze. I learned the freedom to be crazy and go all out on special events. I learned to appreciate hugs and to give them often. I learned how to make friends and to keep them.
All these things I’ve learned have formed me in the person I am today. WeHaKee for me is the place to grow – everything I’ve learned I want everyone else to learn, too! Learning is a life long activity and my hope is that you’ll join me in a life of learning at WeHaKee!
