A Camper’s Words – Session 1, Part 1
At our first Council Fire of the season, we added a new element – we asked some of our older campers to share their views of their experiences at WeHaKee and how they have influenced their lives. It was remarkable what they composed and how the rest of the campers embraced their words. So it seems appropriate to share them with you as well. Over the course of the next few days we’ll be posting their thoughts for our greater WeHaKee community to enjoy. Here is our first installment!
When I hear those two words ‘Camp WeHaKee’ I think of an incredible experience where we find friendship, trust, support and fun. An adventure where we find all that a person desires most.
Camp WeHaKee is a place that brings joy in every person’s heart who lives there. Because when we are having problems, someone is here to help us; because when we are sad, someone is here to comfort us; because we are never left alone; Camp WeHaKee is a place where we find a family and where we feel at home.
It is an experience that makes us think and grow as a responsible adult. It also makes you realize how to love one another.
At Camp WeHaKee, we learn that even if we are from a different country, even if we don’t speak the same language, even if we don’t have the same culture, even if we don’t have the same skin color or the same ideas; inside we are all the same with a heart open to everyone. We are all present for each other whenever they need us.
It is an experience that you can’t forget because of all the great fun you have there and all the new people you meet there. And you can be sure of one thing, they will never forget you either because you will always be in their heart!
