Feature Friday: Horses with Helen
At WeHaKee World! Friday is not just any day, but one that will feature a unique part of camp – a behind the scenes event, new program or something that is just really cool. A ‘Feature Friday’ post will be here every Friday afternoon, so be sure to check back and catch all the neat ways your daughter gets involved in camp
Today, it’s all about the horses. If you ask our Horse Director, Helen, every day is all about the boys of camp WeHaKee.
“I’m proud to say that all the girls riding at Camp have done so well, and improved in many ways!
The beginners learn about handling and care of horses the first day while grooming them. While riding, they work on control at the walk and try a trot. They also ride bareback.
The intermediate riders do more work at the trot, riding barrel race patterns and trotting over poles. They also have the opportunity to go on trail rides.
The advanced riders have two periods with the horses which allows them extra time to learn about handling and care, from catching their own horses to saddling both English and Western, and a bit of jumping too! They also enjoy the trails.
These first days have been great, and I can’t wait to recognize all my riders in the Showcase”
We are excited to see and hear more from Helen and the girls in her horse classes. Remember to check our Facebook page for pictures and updates
