Goodbye July!
Summer continues to race on by – it’s hard to believe that July is coming to an end. With the beginning of staff training, we have been at this for nearly two months. Seems much shorter than that!
Yesterday began with bright, warm sunshine. And with warmth and sun at a premium this summer, everyone get’s excited when were blessed with a REAL summer day! We had a couple of guests from nearby Camp Glenwood. They just wanted to see our facility and program to gather insights & ideas for their camp. What’s particularly special in the camp business is that although we could be considered ‘competitors’, camp people are always willing to enthusiastically open their doors to other camp people and share ideas!
Last night 19 campers headed out to the national forest campground at Black Lake for an overnight camp experience. They departed camp in light showers, but arrived at their sites for the evening to clearing skies! They stayed up late with their campfires and watched the shooting stars cross the night sky and returned this morning having had a great time!
Today was even warmer and sunnier (no late afternoon showers to chase us inside). We had the chance to see a horseback riding class head out on the trail, a tennis match decided only after the seventh deuce, the musicals group prepare a number from Wicked, the bikers cruise the hills near camp, basketballers learning to dribble through their legs and on & on. Its days like this that make all those frigid, icy days traveling to recruit more campers well worth the effort!
