The first session of summer is underway at Camp WeHaKee! The campers are diving right in to the routine with enthusiasm!
First days of playing on the water mat, making friendship bracelets, spotting turtles, singing camp songs, roasting marshmallows and bonding with cabin mates have been filled with laughter as the WeHaKee community blooms.
The first raindrops of the session did not cause even a hiccup in these activities. When the courts were wet, tennis perfected their strokes by playing ping pong. And, though campers were only allowed to be in the lake up to their belly buttons, the water skiing class used the paddle boats to work their leg muscles.
Today marked the first flag ceremony, an event highlighting the strong international camp community – we’re currently flying the flags of Mexico, Australia, France, Bahrain, Germany, Russia, Scotland, Colombia, England & the USA – and the first special event, a fun all-camp day filled with challenges and surprises. To find out more about these, be sure to check back next week for a special “Feature Friday” post!
This summer also welcomes the first group of Counselors In Training (CIT) and Junior Counselor’s (JC). These girls gain valuable leadership experience through workshops, off-camp trips, activity observation, and camper interaction. We are all excited to watch these young women continue to grow and enrich the camp community.
Tomorrow is the first cookout and activity night of the session, sure to create full tummies and happy campers. As the session progresses, there will be many more firsts! To stay up to date on your daughters camp adventures, check out our Facebook page for photos and updates!
