Sunday Snippet: Gifts of the Spirit
The time is finally upon us. Our staff will arriving on camp within the week, and it will be no time at all before they are all working hard to get all the program areas ready for campers! WeHaKee offers so many activities that require so many different talents, it is a mighty feat to have the most passionate and fun staff in all those activity areas.
On this Pentecost Sunday, we visited nearby Hayward for Mass and got a great reminder—that we have the Holy Spirit to thank for the diversity present at WeHaKee Camp for Girls. Our Program Director, April, and I were given the opportunity to carry in the candles for Mass—as you can see, we were relying on the Holy Spirit to not mess up!
“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.”
1 Corinthians 12:4-8
Every young woman that sets foot in WeHaKee Camp for Girls has her own spiritual gifts, unique in every way. She’ll enjoy things that she has always loved, find new talents she never knew she had, and test her limits in challenging new activities (like candle-bearing… or horseback riding!) The Spirit will be with her all the way—the Holy Spirit and the spirited staff and fellow campers!
We can’t wait to see you at camp, and we can’t wait to share our Gifts of the Spirit as you share yours!
