Summer weather has take a hiatus from the Midwest and Camp WeHaKee has not escaped the cool, fall-like temperatures. It has brought out the sweatshirts and long pants, not something we’re used to in mid-July. The sun did make an appearance at times today and the campers have still been out boating and skiing as well as enjoying their other activities. It’s cool, but there hasn’t been any rain to keep us in.
Our overnight canoe trip ventured out last evening with a threat of showers, but they never materialized. They took a trip down the Flambeau River where they canoed beneath an eagle’s nest and saw several in flight along this pristine, northern Wisconsin waterway. When they returned to camp this afternoon, they were in great spirits and energized by the experience!
Despite the cool temps, the girls are still having fun and building friendships. The weather forecast indicates a warming trend back into the mid-70’s to low 80’s, so summer will be returning to camp. It’s time to get the shorts & t-shirts back out and lather on the sunscreen!
