Venturing Off Camp
This week we had many trips off camp for the kids. There was both overnight camping and a canoe trip. The overnight camping trip traveled to Black Lake. They had a beautiful night to cook out and sing around a campfire. They were all smiles the next morning when the group arrived back on camp, even though it got a little chilly at night. The canoe trippers went down the Namekagon River today. They attempted to catch over twenty turtles, however they were all too fast for them. But they got some great steering practice in the mist of the action! They too, had great weather, the sun was shining all day long. A couple of our biking classes also went off camp on a extra long bike ride and had a picnic along the way.
Lets not forget about the wonderful things that happened on camp today! The musicals class put together an entire song and dance for the showcase and will now spend the rest of the classes rehearsing it. Archery played tic tac toe on the targets and many campers recieved tic tac toes – that is some amazing aim!
Just one more great thing before I let you go, a group of campers taught a counselor how to sail today. It is nice to know that our campers are getting something out of camp and are putting their skills right back in again. It’s great to see people helping people.
