WeHaKee Leadership Academy

We are extremely excited to offer the WeHaKee Leadership Academy! This exceptional leadership opportunity offers three levels exclusively for teens who have completed the 9th, 10th or 11th grades by this coming summer and are looking to take the next step from Camper to Leader.

Friends at WeHaKee Camp for Girls

Counselor-In-Training 1 (CIT1) Program

The CIT1 Program is the first step in becoming a strong servant leader! Girls will be able to participate in activities during their session as well as receive leadership training. They will also have several opportunities to shadow and practice their leadership skills in activities and events throughout camp. All girls who will have completed the 9th grade and have an interest in working with young people and developing their leadership abilities are eligible to apply for the CIT1 Program at WeHaKee.

  • Learn relationship building, skill development, activity leading, effective communication, youth development levels, servant leadership and ethical principles
  • Apply and advance your skills while working with our staff to become more effective and successful in leading activities and helping to create a fun and safe camp community
  • Discover the importance of planning, placing boundaries and self-care to be an effective leader
  • Helping lead camp activities with staff mentoring and support

CIT1’s can practice their leadership skills in activities in which they are interested and skilled as well as participate in other activities they choose. All participants are recognized at our Leadership Banquet on the closing day of their session.

Those who have completed 9th grade by summer 2024 are eligible to submit a CIT1 application to be considered for the WeHaKee CIT1 Program.

Counselor-In-Training 2 (CIT2) Program

The CIT2 Program is the next step to becoming a strong servant leader! Girls will be able to participate in activities during their session as well as receive advanced leadership training. They will also have several opportunities to shadow and apply their leadership skill in activities and events throughout camp. Those who have successfully completed the CIT1 Program will be eligible to apply for the CIT2 Program at WeHaKee.

  • Enhance your knowledge and skills in the areas of relationship building, skill development, activity leading, effective communication, youth development levels, servant leadership and ethical principles and risk management
  • Apply and advance your skills in our program, working with our staff to become more effective and successful in leading activities, energizing campers and helping create a fun and safe camp community
  • Discover the importance of planning and evaluation to enhance your leadership effectiveness
  • Helping lead camp activities with staff mentoring and support

CIT2’s will have the opportunity to apply their leadership skills in activities in which they are interested and skilled and have the chance to participate in other activities they enjoy. There will be ample time to reflect on their efforts to recognize their accomplishments and strategize to improve.

Junior Counselor Program

A Mentored Camp Counseling Experience at WeHaKee! 

Junior Counselors will advance toward completing the transition from camper to servant leader! A very select group of Junior Counselors will have the opportunity to spend two weeks of their summer at WeHaKee practicing their leadership skills through a mentored camp counselor experience and enjoy activities along the way.

Put Your Leadership Skills Into Action

  • Receive staff-oriented training with our counselors while spending two weeks at WeHaKee
  • Work along side WeHaKee staff as you practice your leadership skills in activities, create community in the cabin, ensure campers’ safety and creating a positive and exciting camper experience
  • Work with a mentor throughout the Junior Counselor experience and have opportunities to discuss and process counseling experiences and receive valuable feedback from staff
  • Acquire valuable job experience that will benefit future employment

Although those who have completed 11th grade by summer 2024 and have successfully completed the WeHaKee CIT2 Program are eligible to apply for the Junior Counselor Program, only a select few top candidates will be chosen to participate in this program.
